Grade 4 ART - Mrs. Maiocco's Class |
Magnet Unit: Native American Art
and Storytelling Artists learned about Native American Totem Poles. We looked at a variety of symbols used and discussed how each symbol represented a person, family or tribe. Artists chose to draw a symbol that represents them and used tissue paper collage to share a bit about themselves. Artists in fourth grade have been working on collages inspired by artist Romare Bearden and the Harlem Renaissance. Thanks to Mr. Selmont, we looked at various string instruments from around the world. Artists focused on proportion and shape when drawing the instrument of their choice. Creativity shines in their original designs created using only the colors of their countries flag. Finally, Artists created colorful collage backgrounds.
